Weight Loss

Chinese Medicine takes a unique approach to weight loss! Diet, exercise and good quality sleep are the proponents of weight loss. Along with acupuncture and herbal medicine ~ loosing from 8-10 lbs the first month is a very common outcome. Of course, results depend on your body type and the effort you put into it. This approach teaches you to reprogram your eating habits and helps you learn how to significantly improve your condition!

Acupuncture is used primarily to strengthen the endocrine and digestive systems. Herbal medicine is an important component for working at the root of the problem. The theory behind this is simple. When stimulating the digestive system, the stomach and spleen can become more efficient at transforming and transporting the energy of the food we consume. This decreases appetite. Pain Care

Pain Medicine

Acute and chronic pain effects over 100 million people in the United States each year. Pain affects people differently. What may be perceived as only a minor nuisance to one person, may be completely debilitating to someone else. It is a warning that something isn't quite right. Pain is not just a physical sensation or psychological event, but a combination of these and other components. One of the strongest areas in Chinese Medicine is that of pain management. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can relieve symptoms while bringing the body back into balance for long term results! Book Your Pain Management Appointment with Andrew.

Sports and Trauma Injuries

Bruises, lacerations, shin splints and twisted ankles have shown to heal much quicker with the application of specific herbal formulas and acupuncture! Managing acute trauma is one of the strengths of Chinese Medicine. Any pain in the body is considered a blockage. By breaking up this blockage and allowing the free flow of blood circulation, pain is relieved! Acupuncture and herbal medicine have a great reputation for doing this. Andrew works with a variety of athletes, dancers and "weekend warriors" to get them back on their feet sooner. Even if you are not an athlete, the wear and tear of everyday life can take its toll. Acupuncture: Pre and Post Surgery

Acupuncture helps to strengthen the immune system, regulate blood pressure, blood flow and body temperature. Relieves stress and anxiety related to surgery, speeds recovery time and improves wound healing.

Before surgery, we sometimes manifest symptoms in the form of physical pain, fatigue, tingling or numbness or most certainly stress and anxiety. Just thinking about the procedure can make us a nervous wreak. Acupuncture is very helpful during this time, since it helps to relieve anxiety, decrease pain symptoms that maybe occurring and strengthening the immune function. This gives us the advantage, even during surgery since acupuncture can regulate blood and body fluids.

After surgery, our bodies perceive this invasive procedure, as an attack. Our immune system is weakened, the gastrointestinal tract is compromised and this leaves our bodies more vulnerable to infection. Acupuncture, post-surgery, can start as soon as possible. Acupuncture accelerates the healing process, increases the immune function, helps the body build more red blood cells and regulates blood, increase circulation of lymph and othe body fluids, regulates the gastrointestinal tract and relieves pain. Scar tissue is another factor with surgery. Usually two weeks after surgery, scar therapy with acupuncture needles can be done to help reduce the size as well as prevent keloid healing. Chinese herbs are the most advanced combinations of herbal medicine in the world today. They are combined into a formula, which usually contains between 8 and 12 ingredients. It is the "herbal synergy" that seems to be the strength behind Chinese herbal medicine. Herbal Remedies

Fertility & Gynecological Issues

Chinese medicine is often helpful where conventional medicine is not. PMS, edometriosis, PCOS, menstrual disorders and menopause can be better managed or resolved with acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Fibroids are nodules of fibrous tissue that can grown anywhere on the body. Uterine fibroids are the most common noncancerous tumors of the female reproductive organs. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we treat fibroids differently, based on the site of the fibroid. Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been found to be most effective. Especially, when the fibroid is less than 5cm. Although, clinically, I have had success with fibroids that are larger than 5cm and have been able to shrink these fibroids with a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine, diet as well as, lifestyle changes.

A diagnosis of infertility comes by doing an infertility workup, a series of tests conducted in both the man and woman. The tests are done to check if the woman is ovulating and to look for any abnormalities in her uterus or fallopian tubes. A basic workup is usually done within one or two menstrual cycles. In men, the infertility workup involves performing a semen analysis to evaluate the quality and quantity of the man's sperm.

Infertility candidates for acupuncture are women or men who have a functional, rather than a structural reason. The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, finds it helps as many as 65-80 percent of these cases.

Issues that effect fertility include:

1. Hormonal imbalances

2. Ovary disorders such as tumors, cysts and stress

3. Age: early 30's has a 22% chance to conceive, early 40's - an 8% chance and early 50's - a 1% chance.

4. Blockage: such as in the fallopian tubes (egg and sperm cannot meet), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and STD's (HPV and Chlamydia)

5. Uterus disorders: such as fibroids and endometriosis

Acupuncture and herbal medicine can help with issues of irregular menses, excess NK cells amd works with gonadotropin therapy to produce follicles in women undergoing in vitro fertilization. Low sperm count and sperm motility are fertility issues that men face and the combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine has shown to benefit men with these issues.
